Objectives
The Camps Bay and Clifton Ratepayers’ Association (CBCRA) is committed to three main objectives:
SERVING the community, CONSERVING the natural environment, and PRESERVING the built fabric of the suburb. Essentially, the above will not only
achieve the overall objectives of the CBCRA but will preserve the value of property in the area
It is critical that the CBCRA be adequately funded to effectively meet its objectives, ensuring that undesirable developments are prevented from
causing the depreciation of property values. Proper funding enables the Association to take proactive measures in preserving the character
of the suburb, protecting the natural environment, and advocating for responsible urban planning, all of which are essential to
maintaining the long-term value and appeal of the area.

Serving the community
CBCRA assists with the following:
- Property valuation queries
- Advises on event permits
- Assists with litter control
- Communicates key issues like road closures and hazards.
Additionally, the CBCRA also promotes community involvement by encouraging volunteerism and fostering collaboration.

Conserving the natural environment
The Association works with the City of Cape Town and the Camps Bay City Improvement District (CB CID) to maintain green spaces and protect streams.
As the area's only registered conservation body:
- it enforces environmental and heritage laws
- it responds to impact assessments
- it actively opposes the harmful use of Marine Outfall Plants to improve ocean water quality.

Preserving the built fabric
The CBCRA preserves the built fabric of Camps Bay and Clifton by:
- liasing with the CoCT applicants and developers regarding property planning matters relating to applications to the CoCT for departures, title deed removals, consent uses etc
- acting as the watchdog on all property development and represents the community when inappropriate development is approved by the CoCT’s planning department
- liasing agreements between property owners and developers in line with property planning laws
- secures finance for the efforts to enforce planning laws from individual and corporate donations
- comments and advises on liquor license applications
Overall, CBCRA's efforts aim to protect the community's well-being, preserve natural beauty, and maintain the value of properties in the area.
The fact that Camps Bay still resembles a residential village, rather than a concrete jungle, is a credit to the hard work and diligence of the CBCRA members over the years.
